BREITLING CHRONOMAT: WHERE SPORTING SPIRIT MEETS EVERYDAY VERSATILITY

Designed to adapt to different settings, the Breitling Chronomat collection combines a distinctive sporty aesthetic, mechanical performance, and versatile design. Its three models offer different ways to experience the same signature identity, whether through the precision of an in-house chronograph, the autonomy of a modern automatic movement, or a more compact design with refined finishing options. Each watch reflects the collection's ability to combine functionality with a strong visual personality.

From Aerobatic Inspiration to an Iconic Collection

The Chronomat's origins date back to 1984, when Breitling celebrated its centenary. At a time when quartz watches dominated the industry, the brand introduced a mechanical timepiece inspired by its collaboration with the Italian aerobatic squadron Frecce Tricolori.

The collaboration began with a specific request: to create an analog watch capable of withstanding the demanding conditions of a jet cockpit while retaining the elegance required for formal occasions. Breitling responded with the Chronograph Frecce Tricolori, a design that would become the foundation for the Chronomat introduced the following year. Its bezel with four raised rider tabs and integrated Rouleaux bracelet have since become defining elements of the collection.

Chronomat B01 42: Mechanical Performance with a Distinctive Presence

With its 42 mm case and recognizable design, the Chronomat B01 42 combines the collection's sporting heritage with Breitling's expertise in chronograph manufacturing. The model is available in stainless steel, 18 k red gold, or steel with a platinum bezel. A selection of colorful dials allows it to express its personality in different ways.

Inside, the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 powers the watch. This COSC-certified chronograph movement offers a 70-hour power reserve and a date display at 6 o'clock. These mechanical features are complemented by the signature fully integrated Rouleaux bracelet, which includes micro-adjustments on both sides of the clasp for a more adaptable fit. With water resistance to 200 meters, the B01 42 is designed to meet the demands of different environments while maintaining its distinctive presence on the wrist.

Chronomat B31 Automatic 40: A Modern Approach to Everyday Wear

The Chronomat B31 Automatic 40 offers a different interpretation of the collection, focusing on time and date functions, streamlined proportions, and an extended power reserve. Its main highlight is the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B31, introduced in 2025 and COSC-certified. With 78 hours of power reserve, the movement provides enough autonomy to keep running throughout a typical weekend when fully wound.

The model is available in a variety of dial colors, offering different ways to personalize its appearance. Its integrated Rouleaux bracelet preserves the collection's signature design, while links adjustable on the fly on both sides of the clasp add everyday convenience. Water resistance to 200 meters reinforces its practical character, making the B31 Automatic 40 a versatile option for those who appreciate sporty design combined with contemporary mechanical watchmaking.

Chronomat Automatic 36: Compact Proportions, Distinctive Details

For those who prefer a smaller format, the Chronomat Automatic 36 offers the collection's recognizable design in proportions suited to a wide range of wrists. Its appeal extends beyond size, with different dial options, including natural mother-of-pearl versions, and a choice of stainless steel or gem-set bezels. These variations introduce different visual expressions while preserving the essential features shared by the Chronomat models.

The watch is powered by the Breitling Caliber 10, a Sellita-based automatic movement certified by the COSC. It provides a 42-hour power reserve and includes a date display at 6 o'clock. The fully integrated Rouleaux bracelet, complete with micro-adjustments on both sides of the clasp, maintains the collection's signature aesthetic. Together, these elements create a watch that balances a compact profile with the sporty identity and finishing options that define the Chronomat.

One Collection, Three Distinct Personalities

The Breitling Chronomat collection offers three different approaches to sporty watch design. The B01 42 combines an in-house chronograph with a choice of case materials and a 70-hour power reserve. The B31 Automatic 40 introduces a more recent manufacture movement with 78 hours of autonomy, while the Automatic 36 stands out with its compact proportions and broader selection of decorative finishes.

Despite their differences, all three models share the history and design principles established by the original Chronomat. Born from the demands of aerobatic aviation, the collection has evolved into a versatile range that brings together mechanical watchmaking, recognizable details, and everyday practicality. Whether the preference is for a chronograph, a time-and-date model, or a more compact interpretation, the Chronomat offers a distinctive expression of Breitling's sporting spirit.
